HP was one of the foremost people to make us dwell on the aberration of Absolute to this day. Plenty of people here are obsessed and wacky about it! Wingnuts, me included! Rod picked a good name for this place - ASYLUM. I was reading TAS in the late 70's and still have one softcover left to remind me. Audio and other mags I read in the late 60's early 70's.
There were other mags going back to the 30-40's but few to none had the subjective perspective like TAS. In the late 70's I also learned PLENTY at a local store who later made amps and such when they were nice enough to invite me to the real after-hours action where I could talk audio and learn and imbibe with the guys because there were few women interested.
