I know you are interested in speaker cabinet materials. Here's a new one to me(used in a 3 Square Audio speaker) called Valchromat. It seems to be a superior version of MDF, stronger, waterproof and with color throughout the material. # Square Audio also builds in Baltic Birch but feels Valchromat is slightly better sonically.
