No hints of boxiness but I could be missing it. Port noise from my Stratus Golds caused an annoying boxiness that led me to get rid of the speakers but it was an extreme thing IMO.
These Avatars have a very satisfying explosive low bass in my smallish room (nothing like the room rattling of the Golds in a bigger room) but I have to adjust them regularly as it's easy for me or even my dogs to move them enough to change the character of the bass. Distance from the wall (can be too close or too far) and angle are important - I listen in the near field I think being about in the middle of the speakers and about 1/2 as far away as they are from each other.
I'm not so much a critical listener, but boxiness has bothered me in the past with the PSB Golds, however a hint of boxiness is something that I could miss when a speaker is as musically satisfying as these are to me.
Surely I'll pay more attention to that now.
