RE: relive your youth- what was your first "hifi" system?

I went from a boombox to this:

JBL 4312 speakers
Kenwood KR-7050 receiver
Kenwood direct drive turntable w/ stock arm and cartridge
Akai gx-f51 cassette deck

I also bought a low end ear bleeder CD player the same year. I don't remember the manufacturer (maybe Phillips?), but I paid under $200 for it at Pacific Stereo, a very good price back then for a CD player.

All items purchased in 1983. Receiver and TT purchased from the Navy Exchange at NAS Miramar. Cassette deck also purchased at Pacific Stereo, located off Midway Dr in San Diego. Speakers bought used. I kept and used this system for 10 years, except for the cd player, which crapped out after 4 years. Coming from a boombox, this definitely seemed "hifi" to me.
