General audio topics that don't fit into specific categories.

No, we've evolved...

...some things change but some things don't.

Nice essay.

The Baby Boomers who became audiophiles are hitting Medicare age at a rate of 8500 a day, brick and mortar hi-fi stores have all but disappeared and music stores won't be far behind.

From the 1950s we went from building our own equipment, to buying it already made.

Then receivers and consoles gave way to separate components and now to computer music servers.

Music software has changed from LPs to CDs to computer files and it is available at the click of a computer mouse.

More people are listening to more music than ever.

But only a small subset - audiophiles - have ever and will ever care about perfecting the sound.

The more things change, the more they remain the same.
