I've used the Svetlana EL34's in the small Kebschull 35/70's for over a year without a problem. The Kebshulls are class A biased for about 18W of their 35WPC. Even at this rich bias, the tubes proved reliable and sounded perhaps the best of all the EL34's i've tried including Gold Aero's(rebadged Tesla's I think)/RAMS (rebadged European 'slimmies') /Golden dragon etc).
I'd get your amp checked out by a Conrad Johnson.
