The CJ manual for this amp gives clear directions for biasing, which I follow to the letter. But the funny thing was, I was biasing a tube at the very time it got fried. Seems like more than coincidence to me. But the CJ tech support person dismissed this. Instead he told me about how they select tubes. How some tubes are born rotton. And how about 1 out of 4 Sovtek tubes are unsuitable, because their gain is too high. Maybe tube testing and matching is a service worth paying for after all. What the hell ... I'll go thru a batch of premium tubes. That's easier to do than crating my precious amp and sending on a 5000 mile journey in the hands of UPS.
