Here are a few of mine...

The first memory was hearing a pair of Altec 19's driven by an all McIntosh system in the late 70's at a high school friends home. His dad wasn't home and he put on Black Sabbath "Paranoid" and I was both blown away and hooked for life on Hi-Fi.

The next memory was hearing a full RTR electrostatic setup with subs at a dealer in Ogden Ut. in the early 80's. He put on Genesis "Abacab" and proceeded to reveal to me the beauty of electrostatics. I don't recall any of the system components except the RTR's were driven by a Mark Levinson amp IIRC. I think I bought a Grado cartridge from him that visit for my JVC JL-A20 TT.

The next was hearing the Wilson Audio X1 Grand Slamms at a dealer in Salt Lake city mid 80's. All Mark Levinson setup/Transparent wire and the music was both palpable and surreal. I had them play Queen "All Dead, All Dead", "Who needs you" and "'My Melancholy Blues" along with Harry Connick Jr.'s "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" which became
my reference songs with which to judge all other systems from then on
and they also became my system tuning songs for quite some time.

And finally hearing a pair of Duntech Crown Prince speakers at another dealer in SLC late 80's. I brought along Joe Satriani "Surfing with the Alien" on vinyl and played most of the disc but the title track was
absolutely mind blowing for me. It was also my first exposure to a TT with a linear tracking arm. I think it was a VPI table and I'm pretty sure it was one of Bruce Thigpen's arms but it revealed to me just how musical vinyl is and how utterly clean/solid it can sound on a high end TT.

Of course, my most fondest memory was hearing my favorite music over my then recently aquired pair of Acarian Systems LTD. Alon 1's driven by an AMC 3030a/MIT cables and a Pro-ject TT with a Sumiko Blue Point special. I didn't leave that room for days... :-)
