My Dad told us we were going to give away our Magnavox or RCA maybe all in one cabinet system, because he wanted to do higher end like his younger brothers. We got a Scott SS 382 receiver, AR 3a speakers or 3?, Dual 1009 SK with a Shure cart, using zipcord speaker wires. The real high end part was our habit of buying one or two new LP's weekly, and that 600 plus 95% classical collection remains extant and pristine today. Dad left us in 1999 with a legacy of music appreciation and some 30 odd 78's also. Good stuff.
Uncle 1 had my stored McIntosh tubed stereo system and gave them to me, with Empire 208/98.
Uncle 2 has various receivers but had a tubed Fisher mono with Fairchild tt, etc. He still has Celestion SL6 speakers, liked them with his Carver the Receiver, now w Yamaha HTR and various Sony sources. There is Technics 1600 in his wife's system needing a ScottRT upgrade and little belt. She has Sony VR receiver with Aiwa super dual deck.
Uncle 3 has McIntosh stuff (SS C28, MC 2300, ML2a modded with Dynaudio drivers, B&O TT, Denon CDP and C4 and C8 into MC 30's in other rooms). Just visited his house for Christmas.
