... (mid-70's) is that almost no one I knew ran anything fancy for speaker cables or interconnects. Basic stranded copper speaker wire and 'patch cords'. And they had outstanding systems; as far as the components went.
Seems that ultra-spendy wires were just starting to come out about that time. They were hardly a 'must have'. I knew one or two people who messed around with wires and connectors. They were the most far out into the hobby; dwelling on the edge of experimentation. A big change from today.
