In 77 I didn't even have a clue that tube audio existed...although I remember our RCA Hi-Fi console. I thought I knew what good sound was and had the following: (the best in town at the time)

Infinity WTLC Wave Transmission Line Columns
Bang and Olufsen something Turntable - 1700?
DBX 1BX - Dynamic Range Compander
No FM tuner- Radio sucked back them, and still does IMO
