Maybe my circle of young listeners (two kids and their gang of friends) is too small a sample and too far out of the mainstream, but I find them to be extremely passionate about music. Because music is so easy to access in huge quantities for them, they have very eclectic tastes and are not dismissive of stuff outside the mainstream at all.
