So *that's* how it is spelled!Did you have the one with the unipivot tonearm?
Mine lasted about 10 years--until the suspension isolating the motor broke in 1990. I remember a very heavy platter (> 5LBs), a cheap lightweight base, cheap headshells, captive IC's, and -- when properly tweaked -- *very* musical.
Originally I had the cheapest Grado MC (circa 1981), then some of those cheap (under 20$) Grado carts. well reviewed at that time by TAS. (I remember examining a stack of those Grados in searcdh of a straight cantilever!) Finally, I got myself a Grace F9E (I think that was it.)
I never did replace that turntable. Got away from serious listening for most of the last ten years. (Got a computer science degree. Life without writing code wasn't worth living. Still isn't.
) But this obsession with music never left me. And now I can afford to feed my habit. I have lots of vinyl in storage, including many Mobile Fidelity, RR, and varied direct-to-disks. I understand some of these are worth money now, esp. the Mobile Fidelity disks. Go figure.
So far I've held off purchasing another turntable. But eventually I'll break down.
Then I'll dust off those old -- immaculate -- LP's, get out the old DB and Dennison protractors and, well y'all know the rest.
