Re: I'm curious, what was your first *true* stereo system?

My first system was actually mono, but not for long. I built a Dyna SCA-35 tube integrated and hooked it up to a homemade loudspeaker whose cabinet was designed to fit in a corner. Turtable was an AR fitted with a Shure M91E cartridge. I rememember that I stayed up all one Friday night finishing the amp. I hooked it up, and . . . NOTHING! After tearing my hair for a while, I rechecked the connections on the back of the speaker. Then, music! That was the launch. I've had more than a dozen systems in the ensuing 30 years, and never spent more than a few thousand on any of them. Oh, yes, I quickly upgraded to a stereo pair of Dynaco A-25s, which always sounded choked and muffled to me at lower volume settings, so I sold them on about my third system. Interesting thread, thanks.
