The crazy thing about Columbo is that all the stereo systems they show are not set up or have major things missing. One shows a pair of Acoustech model 10 (NOT acoustat) electrostatic speakers and a early Fisher solid state receiver in a guys office. No other components. One scene you can see behind the Fisher slightly and you can plainly see there are no wires hooked to it at all. Also you can plainly see no wires hooked to one of the speakers. and of course there is music playing.
I another Columbo they show a Phillips 4450 reel to reel sitting on a shelf with no other components at all and the tape is moving. All the remaining shelf space floor to ceiling is filled with LP RECORDS. Not a tape in sight, nor amp, speakers, turntable etc.
I guess the set designers just grabbed whatever was handy to use as window dressing and figured no one would notice.
They've shown lots of old video equipment on Columbo also such as Sony reel to reel video recorders and Sony Umatic video machines also.Dave
