Re: I'm The Granddaddy Of Granddaddies:

Infact, I'm not going to give you my age.
I got started in audio while in college. A fellow student got me interested in it since he was building HeathKit amps, using raw University Speakers and putting them into horn loaded enclosures which he built in the college woodshop class.
So, I bought my first components from the Allied Radio Catalog, which was an integrated KnightKit, and Wharfedale 15" woofer, 8" midrange and 3" tweeter. I read Bigg's book on speaker designs and made a sandfilled corner baffle with a concrete slab front, -weighed a ton. From there I progressed to an 18" Baker's woofer and a Leak Pt.I Amp. And then to my first stereo system, which consisted of my present Quad ESL 57's which I have been happy with ever since. Of course the electronics have changed several times, including a McIntosh, VTL's and my present new Pathos Classic One which I am very happy with and is proving to be a new 'classic' just as my old Quad ESL's 57's are old classics.
