Put me in Karl's column. Specific combinations to the contrary, MOST SS power amps of quality benefit significantly from tubed preamplification. The "warmth" added by the tube preamp is important.I have used tubed preamplification with SS power amplification for years. I could not stand to use SS preamplification now.
