RAYDOG for President. (long)

RAYDOG plain and simple NAIL's it.

I know I found "this place" after a life-imposed seperation from the high(er) end that lasted nearly a decade. I had then and still have a lot to learn.

At a2 I found people both kind and interested enough to guide me through what seems in hindsight some pretty basic stuff. Then as I read, and tinkered, and read some more, I started feeling sporty. Bad move.

Poor JR over in Cable A did his best to talk me out of some ill concieved 'speaker cable concept that I devised. I did it anyway. He talked me off the roof while I was undoing the whole thing.

Yeah, a2 is a higher quality audio board than the others. But why is that so? Because you know more than me. And I know more than that guy.

I made a serious mistake the other day. I have no idea why and the guilt is--unlike the guilt they sold us in school--actually deserved.

There are many posts, especially in General Asylum, from people who are just trying to get their first clue. Many of these posts are ignored (how many times can a veteran answer the same stuff about "Humm", about "how much money should I spend for..." and so on. Many times, just a newbie with fangs myself, I would take the basic questions on.

I've gotten e-mail from posters around the world thanking me for suggestions so simple most of you would gag. "Thanks Bosh! Before you, all my posts were ignored! And you're right. Taking my 'speakers out of the bath tub has resulted in much less low freq. smearing!"

But this recent post...

...for some reason I answered the (101) question in good faith, then ended with a rude remark. Why? Am I getting too full of myself? Duh. Yes.

So this is what I did. I searched high and low(ish) for a vintage tube amp for little-to-no money. Located one for sale (somewhere). Posted a question about the brand of amp at about noon today on Vintage a2. I asked a dumb question in an innocent sort of way, and guess what? So far (it's now midnight), no response.

Those who want this to be a gathering place for audio snobs should remember that any passion only lasts as long as the people who propel
it (remember the Shakers?).

Have you hugged your Newbie today? (rear of next a2 Tshirt). 'Cuz, BTW, it's national Mentoring Month.

RAYDOG, YDB.
