You might want to wait and save your $$$...

When I was auditioning integrateds a few months ago, I noticed a large difference between the sub $1000 units and the $1500+ ones. All of the less expensive ones seemed to be making one compromise or another, the pricier ones just came together better sonically.

Three in particular I would look at:

Creek 5350 ($1500)
Bryston B60 ($1500 or $1800 with remote)
Plinius 8100 ($2000)

All three are very musical, have good bass, and tamed my bright speakers quite well. You may be able to find the Bryston and the Plinius on the used market, but I doubt you'll see many used 5350's for a while (its a new product).

If your $1000 price point is firm, I second the AR Complete recommendation and also suggest you look at the smaller Creek 4330SE. It's only 50Wpc, but is surprisingly dynamic for its size. Remember, that extra 50W only gets you about 3db of sound pressure.
