Hi again,

On the contrary. Krell's behave very much like a perfect VOLTAGE source, providing whatever current is being drawn by the load.

It doesn't. What it does is do distort the signal in a fashion that SEEMS to result in more high Frequencies. It does not truely have much articulation or precisition or extension in the high Treble. Listen to some really extended Amplifiers (like DNM) and you know what I mean.

If Power (or Impedance / Current) is no issue Krell's go no lower than any other suitably designed Amp with decent Supplies.

However, if you want these aspects of Krell Performance, you must except the drawbacks. If you want a more open, less agressive sound, you need amplifiers that do not use massively paralleled output Devices. You need Amplifiers that have a VERY high inherent Open-Loop Bandwidth with inherently good linearity.

That implies Design Features resulting in Amplifiers that have modest Poweroutput and Load compatibility.

If you want something to drive Low Impedance, Low Efficency Speakers then you will have to take something in the Krell mould (there are others who'se Amplifiers sound equally artificial and unpleasant), with all the sonic drawbacks that entails....

As said, do try one of the Jeff Rowland Amplifiers with Battery Powersupply. Jeff Rowlands Amplifiers tend to sound way more natural than Krells, without giving away much in terms of Bass Performance.
