Re: The Bedini Clarifier is designed to accomplish this.

We know that the basic tweak appears to be demagnitization, but it might be something else.

I've always found it amazing how people like Bedini are able to come up with things like this without having the foggiest idea of what's going on.

In his patent, Bedini claims that his Clarifier literally causes data compression on the disc and even rearranges its location on the disc.

He even "proves" it by copying a graphic file from a Kodak Photo CD onto his computer's hard drive. He then "clarifies" the disc and copies the same file to another directory on his hard drive.

Then he converts the files to PostScript files and notes that the two file sizes are different (hence the data compression). He then uses a text editor that can do a file comparison between the two files and show any differences between the files and notes that there are a number of differences between the two files.

I was able to duplicate his results with an image file that was simply copied off a CD to two different directories and without any "treatement" at all. Something in the PostScript algorithm simply produces different data output and different file sizes.

Whatever "effect" his Clarifier may have, the guy's a crackpot.
