The problem I've found is when the producer mics a concert for added bass, or adds some tube distortion to an organ, or otherwise tweaks the sound, the added bass or tube distortion of your system is amplified, beyond sounding natural, or "good" to my ears.
I find I enjoy recordings more when my system doesn't add or subtract anything. If a recording is lousy, I'll switch in my equalizer and try to fix things, otherwise I leave well enough alone.
