Bose's success is a direct indictment of the high-end. Consider the car industry; even your average Joe or Jane on the street understands that a BMW 540i Sport is a superior product, though he or she's never driven it. And if (s)he did drive it, chances are, (s)he would actually be able to tell that it was superior. (Don't get me started on the fact that such a high-performance vehicle can be had for only about 4-5 times the price of the cheapest cars available!)Something needs to change, IMHO, though I'm not sure how we get there. I have no need to secretly -- or not so secretly -- gloat over my superior tastes compared to the poor Bose dolts. I would welcome a larger, more inclusive and better informed community.
