I think variable tilt and shelving controls are much more useful than Baxandall ones which IME and IMO boost too much at the extremes.I do think tone controls should be done as transparently as possible though.
My system does not have them.
But I would love at least a variable 3db pint and a 0-6db bass shelf boost for baffle-dip (loss) compensation.
