was thinking about how insanely expensive the ultra high end has become vs when I was new in the hobby.
Walking down memory lane I can recall being a fan of the Apogee line and had opportunity to hear them many times.
Their "holy-grail" speaker called the "Grand " was state of the art back then and represented the ultimate high end speaker.
and trust me when I tell almost nobody was paying that much for a set of speakers back in the day
it was 85 grand at the time .... so plugging into the feds cpi calculator that would be about 157 grand today
fast forward and we have folks spending 5x this much for flagship speakers
flagship amps amps were a few grand ..... now they can be 50 grand
I would take a wild guess that the ultra high end is 5 to 10 times as expensive as 25 years ago
