2ms,

These products might be a little more expensive, but I can vouch for the 2Q's performance. They do not use a lot of fancy/complicated electronics to create a better band-aide, just the basic laws of physics to cancel noise. They caused an ammendment to the National Electric Code (NEC) in 1996 which should say something for them. They started out in the professional recording studio business before making consumer based products.

I don't think Mister Pig's comments apply to these units. They don't consume a lot of power (just a couple of LEDs) and pass the rest through to the components. They make the music sound more precise. They do not add color or it's own signature to the system, they just clean up the noise on the AC.

I was skeptical and thought it would just clean up 60Hz line hum. Since my system didn't suffer from this, I didn't know what to expect. During the audition, we were pleasantly surprised and haven't removed it from our system since.

The best way I can describe the sonic improvement is to equate it to the fine tuning knob on an old TV tuner that eliminates the fuzz/snow from the entire moving picture and puts everything into focus. I (and my better half) noticed an immediate improvment across the entire frequency spectrum of source content when I added it to our system. My better half didn't even know I had been to the stereo store. She just walked into the house, stopped dead in her tracks and asked what I did to the stereo. How's that for an unbiased response?

Your mileage may vary based on how clean your AC lines may be.

It's primary function is NOT a surge protector, nor a UPS, nor a regulator, it is intended to clean up your power.

HTH,
Tim
