Although I'm not really sure what you mean by "cutting-edge" (Expensive?), I can say that over more than 25 years in this hobby I've only had to have 2 items repaired (That weren't the result of my own stupidity!). The first was an ARC SP-9 preamp (20 years ago?) where my only real gripe was how long it took to get it back from the manufacturer; after I finally did have it returned, I never had another problem. A different story was a first-generation Cary 308 (I think) CD player which Cary repaired 3 times-under warranty, thank heavens!-before I finally gave it up as a lost cause.With all of the stuff I've owned over the past 25+ years what sticks most in my mind is how reliable the gear, much of it preowned, actually has been-or how lucky I am!
