Hi,The system was dialed in with Peter McGrath's Nagra deck, which sounded detailed, refined, and very dynamic. To open the show, the 777 Sony SACD player was used to feed the Dodson DAC, and this combo also sounded fantastic. Unfortunately, a problem cropped up with the Dodson--777 interface, and a Muse DAC was brought in. The system's sonic suffered for a time after this, and to be fair, the Muse was forced into duty and may not have had proper time to settle in.
After noting the drop in performance during the day, a Marantz SA-1 replaced the separates. This resolved the problem, and the system went back to sounding great. Of course, no system, or particualr sonic is going to be everybody's cuppa'.
