You seem to be presuming that the tube amps will be more colored than solid state. My experience is that tubes color things differently but not more than solid state amps. I am using a VAC 100/100 amp which has a very rich sound, but to my ears it is not any more colored than the solid state amps I've tried (including Bryston and McCormack). The major difference is that it sounds better, is less fatiguing and gets a lot more from its watts. The OTL Atmasphere, in particular, is regarded as an exceptionally transparent amp. The business about tubes and poor bass is largely a myth.
