In the overall scheme of things 400 nm doesn't amount to a hill of beans in the electromagnetic spectrum. And that's why both CDs and Blu-ray Discs employ the same (Repeat same) metals for the reflective layer. Because they are the best metals for the job. The visible color portion of the electromagnetic spectrum is a tiny sliver of the entire spectrum, I'm sure I don't have to tell you.
