For years I thought that the room was affecting the balance of my system as the image subtly shifted right. After moving, I blamed it on the CD player. After that, there was not much else to blame but my left ear. I tried cupping my hand behind my left ear: balance restored.
Once I was aware of the real problem, it has kind of disappeared as I make a mental shift to accommodate the slightly different frequency responses of my R & L ears. With a little concentration or focus of attention, the problem disappears. Sometimes I cup my left ear for a moment just to focus.
