RE: Most are Class A/B...

The statement should be most push/pull amplifiers are Class A/B since all single ended amps are class A since you can't turn off the out put device without turning off the amp.

Almost no push/pull amps are class A. A few are into their rated output at 8 ohms but almost none of these stay class A at 4 ohms since the class A bias will only support class A at 4 ohms into 1/2 the 8 ohm rating and at 4 ohms most amps put out more power than at 4 ohms. The only amp that would probably really be class A was the old 25 watt Levinson ML2 that stayed class A down to 2 ohms and maybe even below that
