Good review! I'm not familiar with your speakers. How much of the sound qualities could be due to your speakers? Are these 8 ohm "straight" impedance speakers? I read the Lavardin is 8 ohm nominal at the outputs.I have listened to the small brother of your CD-player, the Arcam CD72, but not to the CD92. When compared to a 4x more expensive Linn Ikemi it sounded on the dark side, not as clear as the more expensive Linn. I wonder if the CD92 is also on the dark side and, if so, if there is a synergy between the amplifier and the CD-player at work here? Of course, speakers comes into the equation as well.
I have a tube amplifier myself, the good sounding - and low price (about $700) Edison 60. For family reasons I'm considering to try a solid state amplifier and this Lavardin could be a very interesting alternative. Sure, it costs a lot more but if it sounds really good...
I'm just worried that the Lavardin would be one of the VERY IMPRESSIVE amplifiers. I prefer a music system where I stop listening to hifi effects and just enjoy the music. Do you think the Lavardin could be the ticket?
Thanks, B Peter.
