As my moniker indicates, I have a great interest in "Classic Audio" - particularly in equipment from the '70s.I find that the stuff that sounded good back then still sounds good today. No, it will not match the sonics of today's state of the art but the best of yesteryear's equipment can sound very pleasant and engaging, musically satisfying.
I have held onto some of my '70s stuff as a second system - installed in an exercise room. Included are:
THORENS TD 145 TABLE with SHURE V15 TYPE IV PICKUP
ADVENT 300 RECEIVER
ORIGINAL ADVENT LOUDSPEAKERSI am interested, though, in expanding that system, particularly in giving the ADVENT SPEAKERS more juice.
I would greatly appreciate feedback concerning classic audio. What 70s vintage components have the "inmates" top endorsements?
1. Please include opinions concerning amps, integrated amps, 'tables, tuners, receivers, speakers.
2. What are your opinions of the pieces that I have? Negative feedback won't break my heart (unless it is in the circuitry).
3. Can you recommend web sites that specialize in reviews of classic audio equipment?
4. Has anyone had experience matching the Advent 300 to an outboard amp of 70s vintage? (Had it hooked into an Adcom GFA 535 for a while -nice - but that's from a different slice of time.) What are your recommendations? Thanks
