I made the mistake of selling a Dyna SCA-35 that had been rebuilt into a basic amp. The amp boards and transformers were remounted onto a nice chassis, with hardwood trim. Sonically the amp sounded rolled off when playing vinyl, but spectacular when playing digital. The treble rolloff of the amp was a perfect match for the glare of digital. At that time I was using a Marantz CD63se which was highly regarded at the time. I sold the amp because I wanted to use something that was more versitle.
I aquired a pair of rebuilt Mac MC30 amps as part of the purchase of a large lot of equipment. When I purchased the lot, I had already decided to sell the Mac pr to offset the cost of what I wanted to keep. The Mac pr had been completely rebuilt to stock specs- all new caps, resisters, wireing, tube sockets. Matched NOS tubes. Original circuit, chassis and transformers. Sonically these were among the best amps I have ever heard. Tight, deep, smooth, extended. Soundstaging like you wouldn't believe. Dead silent background etc etc. I had to sell to afford what I kept. The amps were sold to an Italian recording studio. I hope they still have them.
Best,
Ross
