Hi Abe,

The 1.6's are fine speakers but If you want to take a shot at planers with good base extension, please allow me to recommend you get a listen to Eminent Technology's ET-VIII/A.

They are a very special speaker, 2 individual driver panels and one cone type woofer; 25 Hz-50 kHz ±4 dB. The mid panel alone runs the show from 180 to 10K which allows for excellent integration & cohesiveness.
