I've owned many excellent CD players including top of the line Cary solid-state and vacuum tube players and I auditioned the Levinson 39 and 390S. But when I tried this older used Accuphase DP-65v, I knew I had a keeper. It's built like a tank, looks nice, and sounds wonderful. It also has two digital inputs on the back so I use the CDP as an outboard DAC for some other digital sources including streaming audio from my Squeezebox.
My other "beloved" piece are my basic black Thiel CS 1.5 speakers purchased used in 1994. These were my first "audiophile grade" speakers that replaced a couple JBL L100's. The Thiels are very detailed, transparent, and image incredibly well but their smallish size make them more suitable for listening rooms that are smaller than mine. These somewhat inefficient speakers (4 ohm, 86db) worked surprisingly well with a couple tube amps including the CJ Premier 11a and ARC VT100mkII.
