Re: I'm curious, what was your first *true* stereo system?

Can't resist posting to this one...
My first "true" stereo was mono actually; bits and pieces from my father (a TV repairman). A beautiful EICO HF-52 EL34 PP mono integrated amp (dang! wish I still had that). I could heat my room with it in the wintertime. EV LS12 fullrange in a DIY bass reflex enclosure. A truly mediocre VM ss stereo tuner (used as mono, of course), and a mid-50's vintage VM idler-drive record changer which I outfitted with a $9 Pickering PAT cartridge. This was rapidly replaced with a Philips tt I bought used (AF308, I think) and equipped with a Sonus Silver cartridge (later replaced with a Grado F1+ which I still have and use). I can still remember how good the first new album I bought (Heart's "Little Queen", just to date myself) sounded after I got the Philips and Sonus!
