Weeelll, since lots of audio disputes are aired on this site, why not one about pizza? I lived in New York two different times-once in the 1960s & then in the 1980s-and still visit frequently for business and vacations. I also lived for quite a while in northern New Jersey and made weekly trips to Manhattan. Strangely enough, and despite its reputation, I had never been to John's until about 6 weeks ago during a college visit tour with my daughter and I must say that I was disappointed. Now, don't get me wrong: It wasn't bad pizza, it just didn't live up to what I had expected. Perhaps there was too much build-up? In any event I've found over the years that taste in pizza is highly personal and disputes about "the best" can get rather heated, much as similar disagreements arise over barbecue here in Kansas City!
