I bought the elite recorder version of the 65, 91CDR without the special transport and think its awesome as a player. I had the Sony 777 home for two weeks and returned it to get the Pioneer. Without a doubt the Pioneer sounds more like analog than the Sony, not that I think the Pioneer is better its just that its good enough to save the grand the Sony would have set me back. I was told the 65 sounds better than the 91 and if this is true the 65 is a awesone because the 91 is great too.
