See if you can get a Musical Fidelity X-10D tube upgrade. Even with the JAN/PHILLIPS 6922 tubes, it makes a significant improvement in the sound of PD-65. Bass get deeper & tighter and voices become near life-like. X-10D is a class A tube preamp/buffer with a very small gain of about 1dB. You can try this for 30 days and return the X-10D if you do not like the results. If you like it, then you're onto something very good. Try replacing original tubes with Amperex 6922 PQ whtite labels. If the rest of your amp/preamp are tube, I doubt this will work. If the rest of your system is SS, then you owe it to yourself to try this.
