OK - I assume the word "VALUE" is an integral part of your request. That obviously means multi thousand dollar components are out. But, a very good $500 CD player (e.g. Cal Labs DX2 might get my vote) may make the list. However, is this $500 CD player 3-4 times as good as a basic Pioneer $150 player - I doubt it.So the value proposition comes down to what can you get for your money. Jon Risch's DIY interconnects are high quality and much cheaper than their retail-inflated counterparts. But are they really worth a whole lot more than lamp cord in an objective sense - I doubt it.
So here's my true vote:
a $20 portable AM/FM CD player with enclosed headphones available from Target, or any other similar discount outlet
I think you need to set up better parameters for this survey.
