Silly me, I had assumed that she was a Medical Doctor, but she was not. Hi, Jill!!! (Just Plain Jill, in my book.)
The relevance to Audio Asylum being that she was a major supporter of the Boston Early Music Festival, with a particular interest in H.I.P. performances of early operas.
Huedethunqit???
That, despite the fact that she lived in NYC, and not Boston.
Furthermore, among her many books there is a semi-autobiographical work about the music she loved as a child in pre-Holocaust Germany. She was lucky to have been sent to Switzerland, but the rest of her family perished. The music being the usual German melange of nursery songs, folk music, pop music ("Schlager," though I don't know if that term was around in the late 1930s), and military brass-band music.
OK, the term Schlager originated in the 1950s. I once had known that.
