I would put more stock in what read on AS (with a grain of salt) than anything I read on sites where random individuals can post whatever they want, and then assign arbitrary quality ratings.
Some of the so called formal audio equipment review sites are basically creative ad copy rather than compilations of objective reviews. One site owner even admitted that if a component can be used without much difficulty, does not blow up, and outputs sound of reasonable quality than it can not by definition qualify for a negative review. Same "reviewer" now openly admits that manufacturers, importers, and distributors are asked to pay for a published review. Think a paying client will be criticized in print ?
On the other hand there are a few virtual web sites that have long (digital) histories of publishing more or less objective reviews, and have a loyal following of readers. I have gleaned much info from these sites when trying to assess components.
