Has anyone done a study as to whether all the effort going after illegal downloaders actually makes them any money or not?
I mean by the time you add up law enforcement, lawyers, court costs, technology and on and on - can they actually say that by stopping Suzi the Walmart clerk on minimum wage from downloading a Lady Gaga tune is going to net them any money?
The question is - if we stop Suzi from downloading will Suzi buy the album? Probably not because she has no money. Is taking someone in poverty to court and fining then $250,000 going to get you any money? Probably not. Especially when every song known to man is on youtube which you can listen to for free anywhere anytime - you can set up your own personal playlist and the quality is not atrocious. Certainly decent enough on Suzi's stereo.
