RE: Here is a question

"Are there any legal problems with these scenarios?"

You are asking a legal question. The correct answer may differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. You do not identify where this may be.

Usually there is no copyright infringement per se in gifting which is the only activity cited in your two examples. The typical protected acts in respect of sound recordings in most jurisdictions are along the lines of making a copy, distributing copies, performing in public and broadcasting. Similar provisions exist in respect of musical works.

I do not know but I suspect that a single personal gift may not be held by most courts to amount to distributing copies as the right is usually exhausted after the first sale, but who knows?

Your second example implies the possibility that the copies on the hard drives may not have been made legitimately. If so then presumably the the rights in making a copy (one for the musical work , the other in respect of the sound recording) were infringed. But your question provides no information in this regard.
