Every civilization ever eventually collapsed under the weight of the military required to maintain dominance - except the Aztec, Inca, and Maya who were slaughtered by the Spaniards. Currently the US spends around 55% of its total budget on the military, China spends less than 10% and Russia less than 5%. (Numbers may be somewhat off, but not much.) The US has over 1000 known military bases (plus the secret ones). Seven hundred of those are overseas. There are less than 200 countries, so we have multiple military bases in many countries. About the only countries without US military bases are Russia, China (although they actually still claim that Taiwan is part of China), North Korea, Iran, Syria (although we train and arm Al-Qaeda and Al-Nusra in an attempt to overthrow Assad as we want to run an oil pipeline through there to supply Europe rather than Russia supplying them), Myanmar, and perhaps a handful of others. Can you spell E-M-P-I-R-E?
