where did Dixie Hi-Fi/ Circuit City originate?

Actually, I had a very good CC store in my area from the mid-80's into the mid-90's. Their downfall was taking on software (computer junk, CD/DVD..etc.). The company should have stayed on target with Electronics.
As is the case in these companies of yesterday, greed, drove them into the void.
