Actually, I thought quite a few of the "DR" (designating David Reich) named products seemed quite nice.
I SO wanted to like one of their preamps, back about 1992? It wasn't a "DR" model at that point, but they still offered the lifetime warranty to the original owner. The preamp was LOVELY (in an industrial way) - built like a tank, with some XLR inputs & outputs (as well as RCA,) and even had a nice, hefty metal remote. Unfortunately? it was one of the most grainy, sterile, "electronic" sounding devices I ever put in my system. Gave it back to the dealer after the demo, couldn't swing the Joule Electra, so had to "settle" for the ARC LS3. Other than lusting after the Joule? It wasn't terribly hard to live with the LS3 (and, I've recently picked up another, based on living with the first). But? After a long weekend home audition, I couldn't get the Classe back soon enough.
Sad, because I always had great respect for the company, and for the physical quality of their gear - just never liked any of the later stuff, ESPECIALLY when matched with B&W.
