Agreed.
While circuit topology has probably not advanced dramatically since 1962, at least for tube gear, power supplies, execution and parts quality has taken a quantum leap. If the 8B had been built like a modern SOTA tube amp in 1962 it would have been far more than $285. But all the things we take for granted today had yet to be learned.
Rogue Audio represents excellent value for affordable tube gear. Built in the US and all the major components, chassis, transformers, PCB, etc. are US sourced. This is not speculation on my part I have asked Mark directly. It is what I like to see in gear. When I pop the top, look at the beautiful execution, overall parts quality and the fact that everything is fabricated in the US I shake my head in amazement. How does he do it for those price point? Too often when I pop the top and look at what is going on inside I don't see value. And if one has the desire to push SOTA performance Rogue offers that as well. Large, stable dealer network and a company that is growing. A very impressive company.
Compare Rogue to most of the garbage coming out of China. No contest. Rogue represents better value, better performance, better build quality, better support, will most likely be around when the Chinese gear is history and they do all of this for the same price points.
